| |
|
What do I need to open a Vonage digital phone service account? |
|
You should have a high-speed Internet connection (broadband or cable), a touch-tone phone and a credit or debit card to
establish a Vonage account. You will also need to provide your mailing address so you can receive your Vonage Box, which
will be shipped to you after ordering. |
 |
|
| |
|
| |
|
Is the installation of Vonage complicated? |
|
Not at all. When you order Vonage, you will receive your easy-to-use installation box which will provide you with the very
simple instructions and equipment required for setup. Specifically, you will find your Vonage phone adapter (router), power
supply, color-coded cables, an installation manual and your step-by-step CD guidelines. |
 |
|
| |
|
| |
|
How is Vonage phone service different than traditional service? |
|
Vonage phone service relies on signals that are transferred over the Internet, rather than analog lines. As long as you
have a touch-tone phone and an Internet connection, you can receive this low-cost digital service. |
 |
|
| |
|
| |
|
What is VoIP? |
|
VoIP, or Voice over Internet Protocol, converts your voice signals to data in order to be submitted over your Internet connection.
When the signals reach the receiving end, your voice is heard by the other party just as it would be during a regular phone
call. In many cases, the sound quality will be better than your landline connection. |

|
| |
|
Will I have to subscribe to my local phone service provider? |
|
No. Your single monthly payment covers both local and long distance. Additionally, you’ll get up to 20 features along
with this. Check calling plans for full details. |
 |
|
| |
|
| |
|
Can I get more details on connecting Vonage phone service? |
|
You simply order service and connect your Ethernet cable plug-in to your touch-tone phone. You’ll receive the certified-Vonage
phone adapter (router) and other startup materials in the mail. Plug the color-coded wires of the router into your personal
computer. The adapter is what you will use to enable the conversion from Internet digital signal to analog signal so that
your voice is heard. You should now be able to pick up your phone and hear a dial tone. |

What other unique features does Vonage have? |
|
Opening a Vonage account is different than ordering phone service from your area phone service provider. Vonage is now including
the features we’ve grown to not be able to live without - in their basic plans! Each plan varies, but, the
ten features below are all included with your Vonage account. Remember, this is only a partial list of the features
you may get when you open your Vonage account. We haven’t included every single free feature and there are
additional features that are available for nominal fees. |
 |
|
| |
|
| |
|
Here is a partial list of features that come with your Vonage account: |
Available Area Codes
Vonage allows you to choose from all available area codes. Many customers with family and friends in a different
state will choose the area code of that state rather than the state they reside in. The benefit to loved ones is that the
call will be local for them.
Voicemail Plus
With Voice Mail Plus, you can access your voicemail messages through your email, through any phone, and through
your Vonage web account. This is convenient for those who are away from their home phones and have immediate access to a
different landline phone or a computer.
From your PC, your can receive email notifications of the messages you are receiving. You can then play your voice message
which has been attached to your email through a .wav file. Your Vonage online account enables you to manage your messages
and Voicemail Plus allows you to record and choose multiple greetings for different hours of the day and days of the year.
Caller ID with Name
Caller ID with Name is included at no extra charge with your Vonage account. Caller ID with Name shows the telephone
number and name of the caller on all your incoming calls. It’s compatible with any Caller ID with Name-compliant touch-tone
phone or equipment. You will be able to see the identity of any calls that come in with your Call Waiting and can decide
from this information whether or not you want to pick up the call or have it bounce to your Voicemail Plus system.
Call Waiting
Vonage Call Waiting is also included in the Vonage plans! If you are on one call and another comes in,
you will be alerted by a beep or a tone that there is another incoming call. You will be able to see the phone number and
name of the caller with Caller ID with Name feature displayed on your phone or equipment.
Call Return
There is no charge for Vonage Call Return. This feature allows you to punch in *69 into your keypad to immediately dial
back the last incoming missed call that was made from anywhere in the US and Canada.
Repeat Dialing
By pressing #5 on your key pad, you can hang up the phone and let the phone continue dialing the busy phone number
you are trying to reach until the line becomes free. Repeat dialing will call the phone number for 30 minutes. With Repeat
Dialing, never again will you have to tie yourself to the phone, punching the same number in repeatedly.
International Call Block
You can now block unwanted international and directory assistance calls. You can activate this
feature by logging into your Vonage web account, clicking on the “Features” tab and turning the International
Call Block feature on (or off), whenever you want.
Call Forwarding
Vonage provides call forwarding when you open a Vonage account. This feature allows you to have your calls
forwarded to up to six phones anywhere in the US, Puerto Rico and Canada. This feature is made available through a Vonage
service called SimulRing(sm). With SimulRing(sm), you’ll never have to miss another call again, no matter how far
you travel from home (in the US, PR and Canada). You can control how many times your phone rings before it is forwarded
and choose the destination number along with the voicemail system you’d like to pick up the call. All this can be
set up from your Vonage web account.
Call Transfer
At no cost to you, Vonage provides you with a feature that allows you to transfer a call from your number to another number
you dial. You can do this simply by hitting the flash button or switch hook, dialing #90, then dialing the intended recipient’s
number, and finishing the transfer by hitting the # symbol. Calls can be transferred to destination numbers anywhere in
the US, Puerto Rico, and Canada for incoming calls only.
Call Hunt
This Vonage service is perfect for Vonage customers with multiple phone lines running small business operations.
The Vonage call can roll from anywhere from two to ten lines, sequentially. The call will continue to hunt lines until it
is picked up (live). You can configure the settings through the simple user interface online. When this feature is active,
your Call Waiting will be disabled. This is a great feature to use if you are committed to providing quality customer service
and are trying to ensure a live human answer the call. |
